About

Location: Located in the scenic corridor between Yellowstone and Glacier National Park, we are about 4 hours north of Yellowstone and 2 hours south of Glacier. Montana is a large state geographically with so much to see and do. Many plan trips to Yellowstone/and or Glacier before or after their stay with us.

About your host at Triple J Wilderness Ranch: Team, Triple J Wilderness Ranch. The Ranch was homesteaded in 1921 as a land grant. Cattle and hay were raised on the ranch until the late 1930’s. But because of the pristine location, closeness to the Bob Marshall Wilderness, and abundance of wildlife, outfitting for hunting of elk, deer and bear began. The name of the JJJ Ranch came from a cattle brand, and you’ll see our horses with JJJ on their left hip. Max and Ann Barker’s love affair with Montana began in 1958 while on vacation from their Iowa farm. Eighteen years later, Max & Ann along with a 12 year old Ernie, purchased the ranch, renaming it the JJJ Wilderness Ranch. Although they had grown up with livestock and were experienced horsemen, the challenges of turning a run-down hunting lodge into a dude ranch seemed immense. After several years, many hilarious stories, and lots of hard work, the “Triple J” now hosts friends from all over the world. While Max and Ann have passed on now, they left a wonderful legacy for us to follow.

Hunting experience at Triple J Wilderness Ranch: Join us for the hunt of a lifetime in Montana's 1.5 million acre Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. Home to North America's foremost big game animals, this unspoiled wilderness provides unsurpassed beauty and trophy opportunities. To hunt the "Bob" is to experience one of America's national treasures. As your hosts, we will provide you with a rewarding and memorable fair chase hunt. This will be our families' 37th season of outfitting. Our hunts pack from the Ranch into our permitted base camp on Biggs Creek in the Sun River Valley, near the North Fork of the Sun River on the east side of the Continental Divide within hunting district 442. The country we hunt rivals any of the pristine and natural habitats found in America and is deep within elk and deer country. The terrain consists of rolling hills and steep mountainsides with a mixture of aspen and lodge pole pine forests and open meadows. This area is home to the Sun River elk herd, which will be in the rut and then begin the migration process. Excellent Mule and Whitetail deer hunting opportunities also abound.
