About your host at Matthew Greeff Safaris: Matthew Greeff, Owner. Matthew obtained his Professional-hunting license in 1988 through Nature Conservation system while a game ranger at Sabi Sabi game reserve and hunted 3 years with Big Game outfitter Tim Otto Safaris. He is a full time active Professional Hunter for the past 27 years, hunting South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania with fellow established outfitters. He met his better half Sylvia while hunting on the Olifants River and together they started their own Safari company and Gold Valley Lodge game ranch in the mountains outside Nelspruit in early 90’s.
Hunting experience at Matthew Greeff Safaris: Although many African species have tough reputations and many times may seem tougher than American or European species , we suggest you bring your regular big game bow you normally use on deer and elk and rather get in lots of practice with it, than bringing a brand new 'out the box ' bow just for Africa ! Rather than a 'new' high poundage bow over 75 pounds that is difficult to draw in a pressure situation or smaller blind, focus on being very efficient and familiar with your bow in all situations. We do not recommend mechanical broad-heads for any of Africa's larger game such as zebra, waterbuck, blue wildebeest ,gemsbuck and kudu . Check with your outfitter for recommendations on poundage and broad-heads,pending species. Most of the hunting at MGS is done from carefully constructed blinds although walk and stalk is also encouraged. Click here for quick link country guide.
