Started by Jessie and Alan Bird Snr, and named after the antelope, the Greater Kudu, Balla-Balla in the local language. Today, we are a privately-owned, family-run hunting outfitter that owns a total of three excellent hunting properties. Two of the reserves are situated in the Southern Province of Zambia close to the world famous Victoria Falls and the fifth largest park in the world, Kafue National Park. The other reserve is situated in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, nestled in the heart of the Soutpansberg mountain range, not far from Kruger National Park.
Three brothers, professional hunters, Alan, Dene or Shawn Bird along with the well trained and experienced trackers, skinners and various other support staff at Balla-Balla will look after all your needs, ensuring that your expectations are exceeded and your safari is what you want it to be. Your trip will be professionally managed, giving you complete piece of mind.
Accommodation in all three private reserves is of a very high standard, providing each guest with high level of privacy and comfort perfect for the whole family. In South Africa Alan & Shawn and their various assistants prepare mouth-watering meals featuring local game cooked in the traditional South African fashion over an open fire. All meals are accompanied by quality South African wines. In Zambia chef Charles assumes the cooking duties and creates delicious Zambian specialties each evening which you will enjoy after your hunt. We can assure you a top quality personalized safari.

Hunting experience at Balla Balla Safaris: Both South Africa and Balla-Balla offers tremendous opportunities for bow hunters; in fact South Africa might be the best place in all of Africa for plains game. Is legal for hunters to import bows for bow hunting purposes into South Africa and no import permit is required. There are minimum requirements for bow hunting; for big game like buffalo, a bow must deliver a kinetic energy of 80 ft/lbs and have a arrow weight of 700 grain. For medium game like Greater Kudu, a bow with kinetic energy of 70 ft/lbs and a arrow weight of 550 grain is sufficient. Small Game like Southern Impala, a bow with kinetic energy of 40 ft/lbs and a arrow weight of 400 grains will do nicely. Balla-Balla offers tremendous opportunities for bow hunters as we have a verity of specially designed pit hides, elevated hides and pop-up hides. Camouflage clothing is allowed in South Africa during the actual hunt. Click here for quick link country guide.
