Alaska Hunting Adventures

The owner says

Hunt with guides / outfitters Matt Snyder, his folks Sue and Frank Entsminger and crew. We have lived next to the Tok Management Area (TMA) in the Eastern Alaska Range since 1977. For more than forty years we have hunted the area and have specialized in guided Dall sheep hunts since 1994. Matt is the only guide licensed by the State of Alaska to hunt all 3 guide use areas within the TMA (State of Alaska map). This family's passion for Dall sheep hunting and their reputation for involvement in preservation efforts are legendary among professional hunters throughout Alaska and the rest of the U.S.

He holds both a private and commercial pilot license with thousands of bush flying hours. Matt along with his mom Sue and his step-dad Frank, photograph, study, scout, and hunt the sheep of the Tok Management Area year round. This family's passion for Dall sheep hunting is legendary among professional hunters throughout Alaska and the entire U.S.. Matt learned from some of the best, and is well respected in the guiding field with a trained eye for trophy Dall Sheep. He has guided or assisted in over 80 successful hunts for Dall sheep. 18% of these rams were 40" or better. Matt participates in the local wolf control program developed by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. He also participates in local fish and game advisory committee meetings designed for public input on regulations.

Hunting experience at Alaska Hunting Adventures: The Tok Management Area (TMA) was created in 1974 with the goal of providing Dall sheep hunters the opportunity to harvest large-horned, trophy rams in an uncrowded setting. Tok Management Area rams exhibit the second greatest horn length and the fourth greatest horn mass qualities of rams inhabiting seven mountain ranges in Alaska. Rams harvested in the TMA average 36 to 37.5 inches. Between 3 and 9 rams per year are harvested with horns greater than 40 inches, representing 8-17 percent of the harvest. All of the hunters of Alaska Hunting Adventures in the Tok Management Area hold a 39 inch average. The TMA is a State of Alaska drawing permit hunt. Drawing hunts in Alaska require an application fee and are awarded by lottery. Alaska currently has no point system set up for draw hunts. An application put in has the same odds of drawing as other applicants. Odds of drawing a permit in the TMA are less than 5%. Click here for quick link country guide.
