Gregarious, hungry and looking for some easy food, perch are an outstanding amount of fun to catch.
They move and feed in large schools; where you catch one, be ready to catch another.
If they are not where you think they would be, near lilies, weeds, shrubs, any sort of protection, it probably means you are in pike country, the perch's worst nightmare and also a consumer of similar baitfish species.
Fishing for yellow perch one of the great lakes is like intersection of freshwater and deep-sea fishing; Great Lakes gives a very similar experience to salt water fishing. Perch though, are found in smaller lakes, ponds and rivers throughout Europe and North America as well.
With a healthy reproduction rate, they are a prime species many fisherman go out for- it's in their blood.
Because they are as enjoyable in the frying pan as they are on an end of a line, bringing back a limit of perch is extremely rewarding. Either with a light spinning or fishing rod, dusk and dawn fishing for perch is a great vacation.
