Dave Duncan & Sons, Ltd. features base camps that are deluxe tent camps complete with spacious kitchen and dining facilities, as well as a large social tent. The sleeping tents are spacious double occupancy tents that will stay dry in any weather. The meals served are excellent and come with homemade bread, fresh salads, and large cuts of quality meats. The base camps even have a hot shower facility.
The Kanektok is an unbelievable Alaskan river located some 400 miles southwest of Anchorage and flows through the majestic Togiak National Wildlife Refuge. The millions of salmon that spawn and live in these waters support and feed a variety of fish. The Kanektok River base camps are located on migratory runs of King, Silver, Chum, and Sockeye salmon, and Arctic Char. Trophy native Rainbows and Graylings are commonplace. The unlimited abundance of fish makes The Kanektok River one of the greatest sports fishing rivers in the world.
During your trip, you will enjoy some of the most spectacular fishing in America. Depending on the area you fish, there can be as many as nine different species of fish. All fish are wild because no stocking of fish takes place in these wilderness areas.
In the spirit of conservation, Dave Duncan & Sons uses only debarbed hooks and maintains a strict catch and release policy.
Being a close family ourselves, we like to encourage family outings by offering special finacial arrangements for children. Our camps are equally popular with groups who want to conduct seminars in unforgettable surroundings.
We invite you to join us in Alaska. We promise you a fishing and wilderness experience you'll never forget.
Your host at Dave Duncan & Sons: Dan Duncan, Owner and guide. Dave Duncan & Sons Outfitters is unquestionably among the best and most experienced tent camp and float trip operators in Alaska. Dave Duncan's success is due to the hard work of his five capable sons and the fact that Dave Duncan has made his stake on the river that many experts consider to be the single best river in Alaska (many say the single best sportfishing river in the world!) - The Kanektok. Dave Duncan & Sons operates two base camps on the Kanektok; Upper Base Camp and Lower Base Camp. Central to both camps are the spacious kitchen and dining facilities housed in large, free-standing community area tents, which every evening become the center of activity. These contain a complete propane kitchen, dining tables, and a fly-tying bench. Sleeping facilities at both Upper and Lower Base Camps are sturdy, double occupancy 10 X 12 Weather Port System tents with cots and carpeting.
