Your host at Alaska Kenai Fishing for Fun: Brad Kirr, owner and host. Growing up in southwestern PA, Brad has been a fan of salmonids since the age of four. His passionate love for fly-fishing developed in the tributaries of Lake Erie chasing Steel. In search of cold rivers full of trout, Brad headed west where he fished blue ribbon waters all over the beautiful states of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado. In 2008, Brad took his bachelor degrees in fish/wildlife biology and secondary education to Alaska in search of a bright future full of teaching and wild Alaskan Rainbows. This will be Brad's 11th season dedicated to fishing the wild rivers on the Kenai peninsula. You will certainly enjoy his knowledge, skills, patience, enthusiasm, and commitment to conservation of the ecosystem.
Fly-fishing experience at Alaska Kenai Fishing for Fun: If you're looking for an unforgettable day full of beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife, and numerous opportunities to land a wild Alaskan Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, or Arctic Char, this is the trip for you. This drift boat adventure will allow you to drift fish inaccessible holes and runs that would not be available otherwise. There are also several gravel bars and eddies, for the wading angler, to fish from throughout the day. At certain times of the year, Red (Sockeye) and Coho (Silver) Salmon are present in the river to test your angling skills. Your 7 mile journey will begin at the mouth of Kenai lake at the headwaters of the beautiful baby blue/turquoise waters of the Kenai River. Fed by the age old glaciers of the Chugach National Forest surrounding this tranquil valley, the river is truly a breathtaking sight. The Upper Kenai is a serene section of river that is restricted to motors allowing you to take in the glorious sights and sounds of nature. To ensure a successful fishery for future generations, the rainbows and dollies are catch and release only. Your day will end at the confluence of the world famous Russian river.
